A woman is studying the Kirk Sundial located in the Marine
Parade Gardens. Made of marble, bronze and limestone, it was the
gift of J. R. Kirk, a former mayor of Gisborne following the
earthquake of 1931. It bears the inscription "calamity is Man's
True Touchstone Serene I stand amidst the flowers to tell the
passing of the hours."
