A nice clear photograph showing the layout of
Holt Mill at Holt Heath. The mill is located along Shrawley brook,
the other notable mill being Hollingshead Mill. It is thought that
the mill mentioned in the Domesday survey of 1086 was located at the
site of Holt Mill. Urso de Abitot, Sheriff of Worcestershire, held
the land at Holt. The estate consisted of five hides with two
ploughs and the village of Holt was inhabited by 12 villagers and 24
smallholders.
