The Rose Villa Tavern stands in the ticking heart of the Jewellery Quarter. Literally. The famous Chamberlain Memorial Clock stands in the middle of the road junction and would be just a few feet from the photographer. Mitchell's and Butler's lavished £15,000 on this property when they commissioned the architectural firm of Wood and Kendrick to design a new building between 1919-20. They incorporated some fine architectural features, some of which have survived. Of particular note are the stained glass windows and interior tiling.
