The date on the Californian plate of this beautiful-looking saloon is 1947 so I imagine that the car has been taken on a spin shortly after it was purchased. The date of the photograph is August 5th 1947. The location is at Monarch Pass in Colorado. One assumes that it is the husband of the woman pictured who is capturing the scene. Monarch Pass carries U.S. Highway 50 over the Sawatch Range of the Rocky Mountains. Although one of the most scenic routes in Colorado, the road is not to be taken lightly - in winter it can suddenly be blocked by snow. However, this couple have chosen a bright summer day to enjoy the ride.
