A superb early 1980's view of the Albert Hotel in Albert Road at Tamworth. The pub, which formed part of the vast tied estate of Allied Breweries, was an outlet for Ansell's Brewery of Aston when this photograph was taken. The Albert Hotel had earlier been operated by Ind Coope and Allsop Ltd. The licensee at this time was Dorothy Millard who had succeeded her husband as publican. As can be seen here, she kept a very tidy pub with plenty of plants for decoration. Note also the dimple glass lanterns flanking the entrance to the pub. You can view earlier photographs of this pub on the site. You can also check out this link to read more about the history of this Tamworth pub.
