Image Detail & Specifications

A superb image of Five Ways at Cradley Heath with the focus on the recently constructed Five Ways Hotel. At the time of the photograph Stephen Deeley was the publican - his name can be seen above the front door. The letters N.W.B. can be seen above the High Street door lantern whilst on the left there is the lettering: 'agents for Star Old Friend tobacco.' The N.W.B. stands for North Worcestershire Breweries and the Five Ways Hotel was one of the jewels in their extensive estate of public houses. By the end of the decade they would be swallowed up by Wolverhampton and Dudley Breweries Ltd.
