A digital photograph of the Saracen's Head Hotel in Towcester, a
large pub that went through a period when it was known as The
Pomfret Arms - the property was owned by the Earl of Pomfret.
This was once a busy coaching inn and the property had extensive
stabling to the rear. Like the Dolphin Inn, ownership passed to
Lord Fermor-Hesketh who leased the building to Pickering Phipps
& Co. The hotel cashed in on the golden age of motoring and was
once the official headquarters of the RAC and AA. Naturally, the
old stables had been converted to garages.
