This image shows some of the mahogany woodwork, etched glass, leaded glass panels and general opulence of the servery within the Philharmonic Hotel, a grand public house designed by Walter W. Thomas for the brewer Robert Cain. Built at the end of the 19th century, the hotel remains one of the most important architectural jewels of the UK licensed trade.
