Tewkesbury - Borough Flour Mills |

The bridge to the left is accessed from Quay Street where once a
railway served the Borough Flour Mills - or Healing's Borough
Mills. A number of properties, including a warehouse belonging
to Messrs Rice, were removed to construct the mills in 1865-6.
The mill was owned by the Healing family; Samuel Healing was
both a maltster and miller who operated other mills in and
around the town. The buildings were enlarged in the late 1880's
when the firm introduced an automatic roller system to replace
the traditional millstones and also erected larger storage
facilities for wheat. |
