Repton - Red Lion Inn |
Taken in the early Edwardian period, this photograph shows the
Red Lion Inn when George Rowland was the licensee. There is a
very nice painted sign of a lion on the frontage. The exterior
of the building has changed very little since this photograph.
Bay windows have been added on the ground floor, along with a
porch entrance. Essentially however, the building looks pretty
much the same. The Red Lion Inn started life as a beer house and
was later notable as a combined pub and blacksmith's business
operating close to The Cross at the centre of the village. The
photograph is a bit fuzzy hence the relatively low price for
what is quite a rare view. |
