Repton - Boot Inn Sign |
|

|
A twee illustration adorns the inn sign of the Boot Inn at
Repton. By the early 1840's William Somers was the licensee of
the house. He was recorded as a bootmaker and innkeeper. It is
possible that an earlier publican was also a boot manufacturer -
hence the name of the building. However, it may simply
commemorate the fact that Repton once had a thriving shoemaking
industry. |
