The Avenue public house was close to Ansell's Brewery in Aston. Replacing an older signboard, this image perhaps indicates that the pub had been refurbished. The sign has the feel of a spa town such as Leamington - perhaps the pub's locality looked like this in the 18th and 19th centuries? The earlier sign was perhaps closer to the actual meaning of the word avenue, in that the wide thoroughfare is lined with trees.
