![]() ![]() An elegant illustration adorned the Albany inn sign at
Earlsdon in Coventry in 1991. The pub was opened in 1907 and was erected in
Albany Road, a thoroughfare named after HRH Princess Helena, Duchess of Albany.
The duchess graced Coventry with a visit during the following year. Like The
Albion, the Albany name harks back to a description of the country, though in
this case north of the border as it is derived from Alba. Note: inn sign images are cropped for display - download often features full board with mount, edging and, in some case, the hanging bracket etc. |
