A delightful image for Ansell's Sparkling Cider, probably dating from the early 1950's. The cider itself was produced by the Tewkesbury Cider Company Limited, a firm that were based in Fiddington, Gloucestershire. It was only the bottling that took place at the Aston Brewery. Ansell and Son were originally maltsters and hop merchants but moved into the brewing business in 1881. They became a limited company in 1889. By the end of 1898 the company had increased their tied estate to sixty-four public houses. Indeed, Ansell's became so successful they would later acquire their rivals The Holt Brewery. However, they eventually merged with Ind Coope & Allsopp and Tetley Walker to form Allied Breweries in 1961.
